Tulbagh
Tulbagh is a horseshoe-shaped valley about 120 km north-east of Cape Town, closed in by the Obiqua, Winterhoek and Witzenberg mountains. Shiraz and the other Rhône varieties, Chenin Blanc and Pinotage do well here, and Krone makes its Cap Classique in the valley. Most cellars are small and family-owned, and nearly all sit within a short drive of the village. Over the mountains, Koelfontein near Prince Alfred Hamlet, north of Ceres, and Arbeidsgenot near Wolseley each have a cellar door.
