How the figures are made

  • Each estate's price is the cheapest wine tasting it lists on its own website or the booking page it links to, kept only when the page states it word for word, and read in September 2026 to October 2026. Where an estate prices single wines, that price counts.
  • Children's tastings and private or masterclass sessions are left out, as are estates that are closed for now.
  • The median is the middle price when the estates are lined up from cheapest to dearest, so a few unusual prices don't move it. The middle half runs from the quarter mark to the three-quarter mark. Figures are rounded to the nearest R5.
  • 215 of the 458 estates open for visits publish a tasting price on the pages we can read. The figures change as prices are checked again.
