About
The Van der Merwe family has farmed the Breede River floodplain outside Rawsonville since 1840; cousins Schalk and Pierre now run Merwida, with over 800 hectares of vineyards, and look after the Papenkuils wetland along the river. Tastings of the Merwida, Papenkuils and Huis Te Merwede ranges are held in Huis Te Merwede, one of the two original homesteads, where Cecile's Tea Room serves cheeseboards and the house opens onto a garden with a pool.
