Wine tasting prices around Hermanus: Hemel-en-Aarde, Bot River and Stanford
What a wine tasting costs at the estates around Hermanus, from the prices on their own websites: every Walker Bay estate that publishes a price, the ones that don't, pairings, booking, and how Walker Bay compares with the other valleys.

Introduction
A standard wine tasting at an estate around Hermanus costs about R120, the same as in Stellenbosch. But fewer than one in three estates publish their prices: of the 45 Walker Bay estates on Winetrip, 14 list a tasting price on their own website. This page lists those prices, and the estates where you'll find out at the counter.
The price list further down follows Winetrip's records: when an estate's price is rechecked, the list changes with it. The figures in the text were read on 13 October 2026, after the prices of the Walker Bay estates were rechecked on their own websites.

Bot River, on the way from Cape Town, is the cheapest. Arcangeli pours four wines for R40, Paardenkloof three whites for R60, and Barton four whites for R80. Gabrielskloof's intro tasting is R97. Benguela Cove, on the lagoon, is the exception at R220.

Stanford, east of Hermanus, has two published prices: Raka's eight wines for R80 and Walker Bay Estate's five for R125.

14 of 47 estates in Walker Bay publish a tasting price. Each estate's page has its other tastings and pairings, and when its prices were last checked.
No price published, so ask when you book: 7 Springs, Ataraxia, Boschrivier, Bouchard Finlayson Winery, Brunia, Cap Maritime, Creation, Deep Rooted Wines, Delphin Wines, Escape Wines, Genevieve MCC, Goedvertrouw, Hamilton Russell, Hemelrand Alheit Vineyards, HermanusPietersFontein, Jakob's Vineyards, La Vierge, Landskein, Lismore, Luddite, Maanschijn, Mount Babylon, Moya's Vineyard, Newton Johnson, Restless River, Southern Right, Springfontein, Stanford Hills, Thamnus Wines, Villion Family Wines, Welgesind Cellars, WijnSkool & Bartho Eksteen, Wildekrans.
The estates at the bottom of the list don't publish a tasting price on their website, so ask when you book or arrive. Several well-known names are among them, such as Hamilton Russell, Newton Johnson, Ataraxia and Creation. Creation prices its tastings per wine: R20 for each estate wine, R60 for its Ridge wines and R120 for the Art of Chardonnay and Art of Pinot Noir.
Benguela Cove's and Gabrielskloof's websites ask visitors to confirm their age, so their prices above are from earlier checks. Bouchard Finlayson is pouring at a pop-up on Hermanus's Harbour Road while its tasting room is closed, and its website couldn't be checked.
Paying less for a tasting
Several estates waive the tasting fee when you buy wine: Anysbos with a case, Barton with six bottles or more, and Walker Bay Estate with four bottles of its premium wines. It's worth asking anywhere you plan to buy.
Planning the cost of a day
Three or four tastings make a full day. At around R120 each, that's about R360 to R480 per person, before lunch, and less if you start in Bot River. Creation's wine and food pairing, at R1,645 to R1,755, is a long lunch in itself.
The Walker Bay page has every estate on a map, with hours and what each offers. Wine farms closest to Cape Town has the drive to each valley.
How Walker Bay compares
Across the Cape Winelands, the standard tasting at an estate costs about R100. Walker Bay sits a little above that, level with Stellenbosch (about R120, see Stellenbosch's prices) and below Constantia and Franschhoek (about R150 and R145, see prices near Cape Town and Franschhoek's prices). Elgin, which you drive through on the way, costs about R60. The tasting price index has every region's figures and how they're worked out.
